Dealing with ragging trauma is an arduous task for the students; it's all the more difficult for those who are living in the hostel. Students can apply the following technique to overcome the trauma and stay focused at studies.

Reiki and Pranic healing are wonderful tools to remove the bottled up negative emotions related with ragging. These alternative therapies aim at scanning the energy field, identifying the blockage, removing the diseased energy, charging the area with positive divine energy. After the healing session one feels light and compose. These therapies can be learnt within a few days by the prescribed healer. However, if learning such therapies is not possible then one can take the help of healing centers or the healer.

In traumatic situation, it has been noticed that the normal breathing rates alters and therefore oxygen fails to reach millions of cell in the body. Pranayam is a form of yoga exercise that supply fresh oxygen to the body and calms the mind. Practicing the following breathing exercise will help students to get rid of accumulated toxins in the body.

Sit comfortably in a chair, close your eyes, keep your hand on the arms of chair or your lap. Just inhale deeply imagining that white divine light is entering with each breath to the count of 5. Hold your breath to the count of 5 imagining that white light is cleaning your body. Now exhale to the count of 5 imagining that the white light has turned gray as it departs taking away negative energy with it. Repeat the exercise for 5 minutes. Regular practice will make you feel comfortable and confident.

Discussing the traumatic experience with the person you trust or with friends or relatives will greatly improve your mood. In situations, where the student are living in hostel or stays away from home and discussion is not possible; writing down the traumatic event or your feeling on paper and tearing it, will also prove beneficial.

Any form of exercise is a good stress buster as it increases the intake of oxygen in your body. Taking a stroll in the natural surrounding, playing squash, swimming etc will elevate your mood and keep the thoughts away from the trauma. And of course one can always take recourse to his favorite pass time –music.

And lastly, forget about the past ill treatments, reprocessing them repeatedly will cause much harm. Think about the future that lays ahead you, the goal you set, the dream you cherish to achieve.
